of president of Boyle Insurance when Jack
J. Craddock retired in 1998. |
- Overview -
In 1933, B. Snowden Boyle and J. Bayard Boyle
founded Boyle Investment Company, a real estate and property
management company. Shortly after, realizing the need for
insurance services for their clients, they entered into an
arrangement with a close friend and insurance agent, Marshall
R. Yandell, to offer these services on a brokerage basis.
This arrangement continued until after World War II, when
the Boyle's brought in a young Princeton graduate, James
H. Wetter, to be trained by Yandell to head up the Boyle
Insurance operation. It then became Boyle Insurance Agency,
and Wetter was the agency's first president.In 1972, Jack
J. Craddock (1957) became president upon Wetter's retirement
and remained so until his retirement in 1998, when W. Patton
Steele took over the responsibilities of president. It is
primarily a property and casualty agency with about 80% of
its volume in commercial lines.

In addition to providing insurance for all the properties
owned and managed by Boyle Investment Company, Boyle
Insurance Agency serves a wide variety of commercial
clients in fields ranging from construction to nursing
homes to licensed professionals, such as physicians and
attorneys.

We place business with most major companies
including CNA, USF&G, St. Paul, State Auto, Travelers,
Maryland Casualty, Ohio Casualty, Fidelity and Deposit, Fireman's
Fund, General Accident, Hartford Steam Boiler and Andover.
