Boyle is also well-known for its pioneering of major residential areas throughout Memphis dating as far back as the late 1930s. Some of Boyle's early residential developments in midtown are still considered classics.

River Oaks, one of Memphis' premier neighborhoods, was started in the mid 1960s and has continued to grow in both size and popularity. Neighborhood communities in River Oaks include The Garden of River Oaks, The Cloisters, and Chartwell.

Over the past two decades, Boyle's residential community planning and development has dominated the region in a variety of price ranges. Bedford Plantation, Southwind Braystone Park, The Neighborhood at Schilling Farms, Riveredge (The Gardens, The Bluffs, The Grove), Blue Heron, Green Shadows, LeFleur, and Chapel Creek are some of Boyle's well-established residential communities. More recent residential neighborhoods include Spring Creek Ranch, Wycliffe, The Pinnacle of Germantown, and Twin Lakes.
