Why did you pursue a career in real estate? I wanted to somehow build neighborhoods where people would grow up, live.
What does the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Memphis Chapter of Lambda Alpha International mean to you? I consider it a real honor because the local chapter is composed of folks I hold in high regard. There are so many wonderful people donating time and money to make Memphis an even better place.
What do you consider your greatest professional accomplishments? I have always tried to up the game on each new project – to make it better than the last, to do it in such a way that the neighborhood or city gets better. I also feel privileged to have been a part of starting our local Urban Land Institute District and the Memphis Regional Design Center. Both should help make Memphis a better place to live.
What do you most enjoy about your work? Thinking about all the issues involved in doing the slightest thing to the environment and to the city. There are so many ramifications. We want to make wise decisions because what we build will outlast us.
