Boyle’s Halperin Receives Realtors Commercial Alliance Award

Mark Halperin of Boyle Investment Co. has received the 2008 Realtors Commercial Alliance National Award from the Realtors Commercial Alliance.

Halperin was nominated by the Memphis Area Association of Realtors Commercial Council.

As an executive vice president of Boyle Investment Co., Halperin focuses on multitenant and single-purpose office properties and oversees the leasing and management of more than 2 million square feet of full-service Class A office space.

Seven attorneys from Adams and Reese LLP have been selected for “Best Lawyers in America” for 2009. They are Cannon F. Allen, Brian S. Faughnan, James B. McLarenThomas R. Prewitt Jr., Henry C. Shelton III Jr., Lucian T. Pera, and Joseph B. Walker.

Stacey Wiedower has joined residential and commercial interior design firm Virginia Rippee & Associates as a staff interior designer. Wiedower, who has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in merchandising and consumer science, previously worked as a freelance writer and editor specializing in interior design writing. Prior to that, she served as managing editor of The Daily News.

Dani Avery, a Spanish teacher at Bolton High School, has been awarded $500 from the Memphis Area Teachers’ Credit Union. The gift is part of the One Class at a Time grant designed by MATCU to aid deserving teachers in the Mid-South with classroom enhancements and special projects.

Terreia S. Jones has joined the board of directors of Girls Inc. of Memphis. Jones is a doctor of pharmacy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. Jones’ primary focus as a College of Pharmacy assistant professor is in pharmaceutical scientific research, where she studies the causes and treatments of neurological cancers. Jones also serves as a faculty senator for UTHSC.

Wilson & Associates PLLC has received national acclaim by winning the 2008 Diamond Award of Excellence from USFN – America’s Mortgage Banking Attorneys. The Diamond Award recognizes significant contributions to leadership in the industry, ongoing staff development and superior client relations.

Sharie Lewis of Methodist Healthcare Corp. has won the international election for the American Board of Transplant Certification for the Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse International at Large.

Michael Omambia, a medical/surgical nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital, has earned the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, given in appreciation of the work nurses do.

Ken Wilshire has joined Tennessee Crossroads, a television show produced by Nashville Public Television and broadcast on WKNO. Wilshire got his start in television at WREG-TV as a news reporter and weekend anchor and later worked in the communications department and in operations management at FedEx for close to 25 years.

Ron Poe of The Poe Firm PC has been named Tennessee Realtor Educator of the Year for 2008 by the Tennessee Association of Realtors. He was honored for his involvement in and commitment to Realtor education. Poe voluntarily developed two courses on state contracts that he teaches on a continuous basis in an effort to increase the professionalism of the state’s Realtor community.

Dr. W. Terry Umbreit has been named the first InterContinental Hotels Group Chair of Excellence as well as director and professor at the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management at the University of Memphis. Umbreit was Taco Bell Distinguished Professor at Washington State University School of Hospitality Business Management and had served as its director since 1984.

Jaimi Sorrell has joined Waddell and Associates as executive assistant to president, CEO and senior investment strategist David Waddell. She previously worked for more than 10 years in the television industry as a publicity coordinator, customer service manager, script specialist and editor for NBC Entertainment, Slate 6 Entertainment and Writers Inc.

The Midtown Memphis Development Corp. has elected new officers for the coming year. They are Sam Goff of Evolve Mortgage, president; Pam Parker Branham of Younger Associates, vice president; Mike Ryan of Christian Brothers University, secretary; and Kim Williams of Memphis College of Art, treasurer.
