Collierville to Get Open-Air Center

– The Memphis Business Journal –

Montgomery, Ala.-based Jim Wilson & Associates, Inc., submitted preliminary plans today for an open-air lifestyle shopping center in Collierville, bringing an end to a year-long speculation about the company’s plans for the area.

The 1.2 million-square-foot open-air center, proposed for development at the southeast corner of Houston Levee Road and Nonconnah Parkway, will provide retail and restaurant locations serving the trade area.

“We are very excited about this project,” says Will Wilson of Jim Wilson & Associates. “We have been in the planning stages for well over a year now and have continued to review and revise plans to find the best design for Collierville and its residents. Our projected time frame includes approximately 16-18 months for construction with a targeted opening of 2004.”

Memphis-based Boyle Investment Company will be a partner in the development, says Cary Whitehead, senior vice president.

“We own the land along with the Morrison family, and we are going to remain a partner in the project through our land ownership,” Whitehead says.

Whitehead says the two companies don’t yet have an agreement about what role each company will play in the development of the shopping center.

Boyle also is developing Collierville’s 400,000-square-foot Gallina Centro.
