While workers scramble to finish projects in and around the building, teachers at the Schilling Farms Middle School ignored the dust and prepared for opening day.

This week about 600 students shared the honor of being the first to walk (or run) the halls of Collierville’s second middle school.

Schilling Farms, is under the leadership of principal Sherry Phillips, the former principal of Collierville Middle School.

Phillips spent last school year as an administrative assistant to Shelby County Schools Supt. Dr. James Mitchell.

Interim principal Ingrid Warren has been named the permanent principal at CMS and Phillips decided to return to Collierville to open Schilling Farms.

The PTSA has already been working with students, who selected the colors and green and gold and the stallion as a mascot.

And the extracurricular programs will be soon to follow, Phillips said.
