Gallina Centro Gets Kroger, Stein Mart

– The Collierville Herald –

Two major retailers have been signed to move in to the 400,000-square-foot Gallina Centro shopping center at the corner of Houston Levee Road and Poplar Avenue, according to officials with Boyle Investment Company, developers of the property.

The site is in an area reserved for annexation by the Town of Collierville under an agreement recently signed with other Shelby County municipalities and Shelby County government.

Kroger has agreed to take 60,000 square feet at Gallina Centro while Stein Mart will move in to approximately 36,000 square feet of space, according to Boyle officials.

Ground was broken at the site at the first of March and stores are planning to be ready to open in one year.

Other businesses which have expressed an interest in the large shopping center, but have not signed a contract are restaurants, a fashion store, a home decorating business, and a national drug store chain.

A total of 270,000 square feet of retail space at Gallina Centro will be in the main building, which will actually be several different buildings constructed as the need arises, while the remaining space will be in out parcel lots, according to the developers.

The plans for the center have been approved by the Shelby County Land Use Commission since the development is not in Collierville at the present time.

However, town officials said that they would like to see plans for the build out of the center come before town planners since the area will be annexed within the town limits.
