Humphreys Center, Boyle’s 300-acre mixed-use development at Humphreys Boulevard and Walnut Grove Road in East Memphis, recently received the 1994 Excellence in Real Estate Project Award by the Memphis Chapter of Lambda Alpha.

Boyle Investment Company is both property manager and developer of Humphreys Center, which, upon completion, will consist of 600 living units, 85,000, square feet of retail space and two hotels.

The development, with its extensive landscaping, was planned to create an atmosphere where people can live, work, dine, shop and relax.

“The purpose of the award is to encourage ever-improving real estate development in Memphis by recognizing outstanding examples of well-conceived , well-designed and well-executed projects,” said Cary Whitehead III, chairman of the award committee. “The award is not a design or architectural award, but an award recognizing projects that have made a meaningful contribution to land economics in the Memphis community.”

An impartial jury from Atlanta judged the contest based on the following criteria: economic success; excellence in execution; quality of design; creativity; difficulty of execution; contribution to urban/neighborhood life and environmental sensitivity.
