A proposed retail development in Collierville could bring with it a Parisian specialty department store, according to Brad Martin, chairman and chief executive officer of Saks Inc., Parisian’s parent company.

Martin was the speaker Tuesday for the Memphis Regional Chamber’s Board of Advisors and Directors speaker’s series.

During his talk he told the board Parisian is slated to be an anchor at the Carriage crossing at Collierville. “We’re in that deal if it gets built,” Martin said.

It is still early in the process, and details on the store have not been formulated he said.

Carriage Crossing is being developed by Jim Wilson & Associates based in Montgomery, Ala.

“As the developers of Carriage Crossing, we are excited that Parisian has a continued interest in the project,” said Jennifer Atkins, marketing director for the developers.

“We have an ongoing relationship with Brad Martin and Saks as they have Parisian stores in other centers owned by Jim Wilson & Associates, ”Atkins said.

Saks has had a presence in the Memphis area with its Off Fifth store, a Saks Fifth Avenue outlet store, at the Belz Factory Outlet World in Lakeland. The store closed in 1998.

Based in Birmingham, Parisian has 41 locations, including stores in Franklin, Chattanooga and Knoxville.

“We recently announced one for Little Rock, so Memphis is a natural market for us,” Martin said.
