Sedgwick Claims New Morgan Keegan Tenant

Sedgwick Claims Management Services will become an anchor tenant in the new Morgan Keegan Building at Ridgeway Center, which is scheduled to open next year.

The company will move its headquarters to the second and third floors of the building, 47,000 square feet in all. The move will include Sedgwick Claims Management’s 200 Memphis employees, said Don Burkett, senior vice president. The company has 1,800 employees nationwide.

The company expects to move into the new building in mid-February 2001, Burkett said.

In July, Sedgwick Claims Management received a $1.6 million tax freeze for nine years from the Memphis and Shelby County Industrial Development Board on its investment of $10 million in the building.

At the time, Sedgwick officials said they planned to create 166 jobs at an average annual salary of $63,000. Those jobs will be added over a three-year period, Burkett said Thursday.

Sedgwick Claims Management is owned by Marsh & McLennan Cos. and Trident II, L.P., a private investment partnership.

Morgan Keegan & Co. is the other anchor tenant in the new building. Morgan Keegan will move about 85 employees into the 50,000 square feet it is taking on the fifth and sixth floors, according to Boyle Investment Co., which is handling leasing and management of the building.

The other two floors in the 150,000 square foot building are available for lease.
