Work is progressing at a brisk pace at the $350 million, 443-acre planned development in Collierville along Poplar Avenue known as Schilling Farms, according to both partners in the joint venture.

Both Harry Smith, president of Schilling, Inc. and representatives of Boyle Investment Co. said this week that the work within the sprawling complex is ahead of schedule and that major developments in the near future will be the opening of the controversial railroad crossing at Poplar View Parkway, the extension of Winchester Road in September, and the soon-to-be completed sanitary sewer that will serve Schilling Farms from Bailey Station to Byhalia Road.

Major projects with Schilling Farms have been appearing before various Collierville commissions for approval. The most recent announcements were approval to a final site plan for the Schilling Farms Industrial Building, a 120,000-square-foot office-warehouse building situated on 8.57 acres on the eastern -part of the property just west of the Carrier property. The area within the project was approved for light industrial and offices uses.
