In the years following the Schilling Farms YMCA’s opening, the facility has grown into a centerpiece of the community. What started as a small Alpha Center on Poplar and Byhalia with just three rooms, a treadmill, a universal machine and aerobics classes has blossomed into a state of the art facility which hosts a wide array of activities and services.

A burgeoning membership is another testament to the facility’s success. Just two short years after the YMCA’s inception, it is now 11,000 strong.

For now, members can expect the same array of options. The indoor and outdoor pool provides aquatics fitness training and lessons for youth and adults. The workout room is available for the development of all regions of the body. For an aerobic and cardio workout outside the fitness room there are classes available such as jazzercise and martial arts oriented workouts.

For those that need help, there are fitness specialty programs such as personal training, group fitness and weights, and nutrition counseling and customized meal planning, all for a fee.

Day care is provided free of charge for a hour and half for children six weeks to 12 years old. Other amenities include steam/sauna/whirlpool, climbing wall and racquetball courts.
